The number of acoustical runs that Neysa Gunness set up and processed to solve a challenging problem involving 7 compressors running in parallel. The number of operating cases and the number of combinations of compressors operating made this the largest design problem we have solved until now. Pulsations coming from recip compressors operating on the same headers interact in complex ways, producing constructive and destructive interferences that make the difference between a pipe rack that purrs along or one that makes the plant shake like a long and sustained earthquake. AP Dynamics have successfully designed pulsation suppression strategies for several largely parallel systems and it has the experience and technology to do the job efficiently.
