Piling too close to a Pipeline?

When piling operation needs to occur close to existing infrastructure or facilities such as a pipeline, the effect of the energy released by each hammer blow may have negative impact on the pipeline. In most cases this risk is mitigated by monitoring closely the motion of the underground structure and the operation is stopped if the movement (or velocity) is close to a set, safe limit. In cases in which after-the-fact mitigation strategies are not practical, or whenever needed for proper planning of the piling operation, AP Dynamics can help develop an accurate, before-hand estimation of risk. We have the capabilities to assess the effects of piling energy on nearby structures by simulating the dynamics of the soil and structure as well as their interactions with the piling tools.
