Vibration Analyst (Canada)

AP Dynamics is looking for a talented and self-motivated Vibration Analyst to join our team in Calgary, AB. The Vibration Analyst will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Performs dynamic analysis of skid mounted equipment
  • Performs engineering acoustical and mechanical studies on compressor packages
  • Conduct field measurements surveys for new or existing facilities at clients’ sites predominantly in North America. The travels are expected to be up to 50% of the time.
  • Collect vibration, strain, and pulsation measurements to identify sources of concerns.
  • Perform field data analysis and post-processing.
  • Produce detailed vibration analysis reports including recommendations for reducing vibration and improving overall design.
  • Demonstrate effective client engagement, problem solving, effective communication, passion, and excellent technical knowledge within the team and on site.
  • Apply industry vibration guidelines, codes and standards criteria in the preparation of design recommendations
  • Produce timely and detailed technical reports
  • Adhere to AP Dynamics EH&S policies.
  • Works effectively as a multi-disciplinary project team member
  • Develop strong customer relationships with the desire of exceeding expectations
  • Works towards obtaining P.Eng within 4 years and maintaining engineer status with APEGA
  • Perform other related duties as required

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • Register with APEGA as an EIT or Engineer.
  • Training in Vibration Analysis (e.g. VCAT 2 or equivalent) is a strong asset.
  • Previous experience in Oil&Gas facilities and rotating equipment.
  • 1 year of field experience in gathering data.
  • Experience in Engineering Consulting firm is considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to solve technical design challenges
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or authorized to work lawfully in Canada, without sponsorship. Must maintain a valid passport to travel outside Canada.
  • Physically capable and willing to execute site work (carrying heavy measurement equipment, working at height, etc.)
  • Experience with programming language: Python and Excel VBA.
  • Knowledge with industry guideline and standards related to vibration assessments (e.g. ISO 10863, API 617, API 618, API 674, EFRC, etc.) is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in standard Windows software.
  • Experience in the application of strain gauging and multichannel data acquisition is considered an asset.
  • Experience managing small projects with tight deadlines is considered an asset.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Good communication skills.

Junior Engineer (USA)

AP Dynamics is looking for a talented and self-motivated Junior Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX with the possibility of the first year being remote.  The Junior Engineer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Perform FEA for a variety of equipment and structures including pipelines.
  • Perform stress analysis and pressure vessel studies.
  • Design piping systems according to ASME B31 codes.
  • Apply criteria given in codes and standards in the preparation of design recommendations.
  • Write detailed technical reports as required.
  • Complete the assigned task according to project budget and schedule.
  • Submit progress reports when required.
  • Participate in project meetings.
  • Follow methodologies required for the analysis and studies of the project.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Mangers, multidisciplinary Project Engineers, CAD designers, and other technical disciplines as part of a combined integrated team.
  • Estimate workload requirements for assigned effort.
  • Work towards obtaining PE Status within 4 years and maintaining engineer status with appropriate state engineering board.

Pipeline Engineer (USA)

AP Dynamics is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Pipeline Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX, with remote work flexibility. The successful candidate will support our pipeline engineering projects, with a focus on regulatory compliance, pipeline design, and safety standards. The Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Lead and support pipeline design efforts, including Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and execution phases.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state pipeline safety regulations, specifically Title 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195.
  • Demonstrate specific knowledge and practice of ASME B31.4 & 8 and applicable pipelines ASME standards, design, construction, operation, pipelines analysis, and conduct engineering analysis, including hydraulic modeling, stress analysis, and material selection.
  • Review and interpret new and existing regulations, recommending updates to company standards and procedures.
  • Assist with the selection of laying spread/methods and perform/review installation design analysis for the pipeline system.
  • Optimize the laying route.
  • Compile the alignment sheets and design manual.
  • Prepare the design basis/CTRs for the pipeline design and interface with the relative process, structures, and installation.
  • Perform/verify all discipline analyses and calculation notes required to design the pipeline system, including the engineering activities of third parties/sub-contractors.
  • Prepare the technical specifications and data sheets for material purchasing.
  • Verify and act upon the remarks of the Client/Certifying Body.
  • Oversee the bid evaluation and procurement phases.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to achieve project objectives on time and within budget.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering experience in Oil & Gas.
  • Previous experience in pipeline engineering with a focus on pipeline and compression/pumping systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) – Active license.
  • Experience in an Engineering Consulting firm is a significant asset.
  • United States citizenship or authorization to work lawfully in the U.S. without sponsorship or work visa.
  • Proficiency in standard Windows software.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
