Stress analysis of new terminal facility

Part of a $3B project.
Analysis of the large bore piping.
Challenges included design for settlement of the tanks, space constraints, nozzle loads on the equipment.

Results:

Integrity and Safety: Eliminated design weaknesses that could result in costly down time and major safety risks.
Quality Standard: Satisfied end-user high technical expectations.

Inclined Plate Separator Design Calculation and Analysis

Stress Analysis methodology adopted per API 620 and ASME boiler and pressure vessel codes.
A high-fidelity finite element model was developped to perform the analysis.
The design was checked for:
- Protection against plastic collapse
- Protection against local failure
- Protection against collapse from buckling

Results:

Fluid-Structure Interaction Analysis

Large water and oil emulsion separator tank (36m diameter) experiencing internal baffle failures resulting from fluid induced vibration fatigue.

Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) between the fluid in the tank and the tank components was analyzed.
Performed Computational Fluid Dynamics to analyze fluid behavior and conducted a vibration assessment simulation.
